EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a treatment approach that is most often used to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) ,although EMDR is also beneficial for a variety of other psychological disturbances. EMDR uses a Cognitive-Behavioral framework while applying a system of bi-lateral stimulation to process disturbing memory/memories. The therapist uses an 8 phase procedural series to guide the individual through the processing. The goal of the session is to help an individual move from a disturbed affect, memory, and thinking state when recalling the memory to a reprocessed state in which the memory exists without the emotional charge it once had.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) uses a combination of Eye-Movement, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Gestalt Therapy and Mindfulness to process distressing physical sensations and symptoms as well as disturbing images. By using a very defined protocol, it integrates a unique intervention of Voluntary Image Replacement (VIR.) At the end of the treatment protocol session, it is common to experience a sense of clarity and calmness.
